The Senate on Thursday rejected an effort to stave off home foreclosures by a vote of 51 to 45. It was an overwhelming defeat.the bill's backers falling 15 votes short -- a quarter of the Democratic caucus -- of the 60 needed to cut off debate and move to a final vote.The death of the bankruptcy reform measure -- which would have allowed a small number of homeowners who met strict conditions to renegotiate mortgages under bankruptcy protection -- is a major tactical win for the banking industry. But allowing the foreclosure crisis to continue unabated may end up being a failed strategy for the financial sector.
It wasn't easy for Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), who led the effort on behalf of homeowners, to wrangle the 45 votes.Durbin is deeply unhappy with his Democratic colleagues that sided with the banks. "Frankly, I can't match what the bankers are doing in terms of lobbying," he said. Asked by the Huffington Post how bank influence could ever be reduced, he said, "When the voters speak, some elected officials listen. So I hope that, if we fail on mortgage foreclosure and we fail on credit card reform, I hope that people in this country will stand up and say to Congress, 'You've got the wrong friends.'"
After the vote, Durbin said he was surprised to lose so many Democrats. "I had hoped for a better vote. I mean, really, to lose 11 Democrats was disappointing, but, you know, I guess I've gained some ground since the issue last came up. Maybe if the mortgage foreclosures go up dramatically and I call it again next year I can pass it," Durbin told the Huffington Post.Earlier this week, Durbin concluded that banks The Chamber of Commerce that "frankly own the place."

AMERICA TRANSFORMED INTO
THE PRODIGAL SON
BLUNTLY,
as a Nation, we have degraded ourselves; becoming our own most evil adversary. We have not been competent stewards of our God-Given Birthright - heritage.
BY WHICH WE MEAN:
The prosperity abundance and affluence generously bestowed upon us by The Father. In addition, the lionize constitutional assets our wise Founding Fathers endangered their lives to create for [us] posterity's liberty and pursuit of happiness. Taken together, all of which produced the most preeminent Nation "ever to so long endure" on Planet Earth.
Unfortunately, to date, the majority [if not the entirety] of this cornucopia has been mindlessly wasted. Not only is it a FACT our prosperity and wealth been frivolously misspent. With unrivaled irresponsibility, we recklessly squandered our inheritance. Worse yet, our: prized ideals, constitutional civil liberties, ethical standards, honored principles, [even our international reputation] have been dissolutely cast before swine. All those rapacious porcine creatures greedily feeding at The Trough of Avarice. Not seeking contentment of their needs; rather, nebulous gratification of their insatiable desires.

HOW DID THIS STATE OF AFFAIRS COME ABOUT?
THE TRUTH IS: WE DO NOT KNOW.

[Who knows the motivation? Most likely, blinded by irrational ambition for extreme success = the lust for MONEY? Nevertheless, The Theologian constantly reminds us, "Jesus, never said money was the root of all evil. It is THE LOVE OF MONEY which is the root . Apparently, The Philosopher is right, "The surplus of obsessive ambition for success and winning can produce disastrous failure. In other words, an excessive aggregation of a GOOD THING can accumulate extremely adverse consequences."]
In any event, gradually, almost imperceptibly, America's ethical principles were cheapened. The Nation assumed an apathetic indifferent attitude. Gradually, we stopped practicing the spirit of the ethical- spiritual law; and, self-deceptively substituted the mere letter of the law. A thinking that: If one did not break the criminal law, then they were good. Nevertheless, all humanity recognizes humans are called to a higher plane of ethical and spiritual life. All possess an inner knowing - an innate comprehension - that obeying the criminal law is merely minimal ethics. To be a GOOD BEING we are required to do THE GOOD for its own sake. Again, The Philosopher: "It does not logically or morally follow that: Just because one does not do anything bad; does not mean he is good of character. Doing nothing does "not" accomplish THE GOOD."
What happened to our beloved country has numerous historical cases in point. It seems, to a major degree, our populace seized upon effortless uncomplicated religiosity. The end result was a broad-based discarding the practice of the spiritual-ethical teachings of all the great prophets of history. Essentially, replacing the living of these fundamental principles upon which this Nation and Western Civilization was founded.
THE CONSEQUENCES:
IS AMERICA GOOD? YES. WE ARE NOT POSITING AMERICA IS BAD;
RATHER, THAT IT MUST REFORM ITS PHILOSOPHY AND ETHICS

What is corruption?
The General Concept
From a philosophical, theological, or moral perspective, corruption refers to a deviation from spiritual, moral, ethical ideals and values! Generally speaking, it is a society's, organizations', government's, businesses', corporations', individuals replacing proper actions with dishonest behavior. Repeatedly acting inconsistently with prior acceptable conduct. Which, in time, ultimately destroys its previously cherished foundational principles: integrity, virtue, morals, values and ideals. Its very reason for existence.
Corruption represents change. Changing, or the process of being changed, for the worse. A great perversion of what once was pure, simple and revered behavior with a contrary " the state of affairs." Did we not see Katrina with our own eyes? Was the concept of costs/benefits analysis used to ignore assistance to New Orleans? Was Katrina not really a cynical economic evaluation of public policy. Callous analysis of cost-effectiveness only; abandoning the conspicuous human devastation. Large-scale social corruption is a broad based, evolutionary process. It has emerged as a social pathology throughout America. We have lost our sense of civic virtue. [Aristotle]. General dishonesty reigns supreme. The lusting after money has infectiously spread throughout almost every sector. Like a cancer corruption taints almost all processes. Regarding potential dishonesty by: corporations, directors, executives, managers, employees, elected officials . Americans sense HIGHER=UPS will cunningly mismanage money transactions. This dishonesty is considered commonplace. People are convinced their economic\financial relationships will somehow be rigged contrary to our interests. As a result, this is the causation of much anger on the part of the victimized the middle class and working poor. As The Economist says, "We are no longer making a larger economic pie in which all can share! Instead, paper wealth is created for the FEW; if you know what I mean." Think about it? Are we not all on edge? Anxious? Fearful. A national sense of uneasiness? Something is not right? That is, what our financial future and security will be?

Americans have become desensitized by repeated high profile scandals in the government and corporate sectors. Inescapably, Americans decisions inevitably become entrapped in repeated ethical dilemmas. Unavoidably, they must interact with government officials\corporations\businesses. People feel compelled [coerced] to cooperate. If ethically challenged, they conveniently change direction from doing the RIGHT THING! Adjusting their behavior to act unethically. WHEN: a Nation's crises are purposely ignored as politically debate may cause controversy [compelling politicians to taking a stand] jeopardizing reelection;
WHEN: government agencies [GAO, COB, etc.] propose professionally researched specific solutions; however, their counsel is disregarded;
WHEN: a people no longer mutually aggregate in common cause [temporarily abandoning petty political disagreements] to realize fruition of the welfare for all;
WHEN: there is nothing left to believe, no moral cement binding the society together;
WHEN: life's rational skepticism is exchanged by coarse cynicism;
WHEN: a society becomes ethically destitute:
WHEN: sincerity and humility[acknowledging blame] is replaced my duplicity;
WHEN: those following a code of ethics are considered foolish idealists incapable of confronting life's brutal pragmatism;
WHEN: lawsuits replace rational evenhanded settlements of inevitable human conflicts:

WHEN: 50% of US manufacturing jobs vanished since the 1950s;
WHEN: the American Middle-Class is no longer in decline; to the contrary, its demise is at-hand;
WHEN: most Americans are approximately five paychecks away from impoverishment;
WHEN: the Middle-Class and Working-Poor realize they are marching on an economic treadmill; working harder but not gaining prosperity's harvest ;
WHEN: the US wealth has tripled since the 1950s; yet wages have stagnated - if not declined - as inflation skyrockets;
WHEN: The Corporate-Wealth Class [CWC] dictates government policy, dominates the economy; and, owns the vast majority of US wealth;
WHEN: that same Corporate-Wealth Class, [CWC] [intentionally] rapaciously plundered, cannibalized and deindustrialized our economy;
WHEN: the Corporate-Wealth Class, relentlessly exported = outsourced = our US manufacturing base; devastating Americans potential to earn a living wage income; [Under the falsehood of mad-rush globalization]
WHEN: the same Corporate-Wealth Class [CWC] , shamelessly, [slowly but surely] sold-off our Nation's able-bodied companies and economy;
[WHEN: the same Corporate-Wealth Class [CWC] literally looted the national Treasury accumulating Billion Dollar obscene government contracts;;
WHEN: US companies intimidated [terrified] US workers to do "Givebacks", utilizing the deceptive subterfuge retaining Corporations' global competitiveness;
WHEN: US corporations thrust a gun to their employees heads, forcing givebacks of wages and benefits, insinuating the threat of relocating overseas;
WHEN: US corporations forced employee BUYOUTS with similar INTIMIDATION brutally forcing downsizing ; or, otherwise compelling retirements;
WHEN: downsizing now means US workers better accept a lesser wages for more work; or, else;
WHEN: loyal retiring employees discover their pensions vanished due to corporate abuses Chapter 11 bankruptcy [ judicially sanctioned] ;
WHEN: employees are forced to work a multiplicity of part-time jobs, not a 40 hour workweek to be considered full-time entitled living wages and benefits;
WHEN: employees are forced to work longer hours unable to receive the overtime pay;
WHEN: Middle-Class and working poor wages have stagnated, yet inflation increases astronomically;
WHEN: the price of gasoline approaches and astronomical amount. where by people cannot afford to travel to work, nor even apply for an economic;

WHEN: politicians see their office as a career [self-service]; not revered public service;
WHEN: Elected Official eagerly await retirement [passing through the revolving door] further enriching themselves:
WHEN: the public does not know which political party to trust;
WHEN: national fiscal policy accumulates enormous debt/deficits which ultimately will impoverish [bankrupt] The Nation;
WHEN: the government overtly sanctions unrestricted mad- rush globalization; exporting the US manufacturing base;
WHEN: Americans fear their government, as fear-mongering [PARANOIA] permeates politics and the electorate;
WHEN: Americans no longer trust the integrity of the electoral process;
WHEN: Honorable Liberals and Conservatives debating varying political philosophies no longer perceive them as important:
WHEN: lobbyists are revealed as representing foreign governments; influence peddling to the America's detriment;
WHO PAYS THE TAXES Federal, State & Local inflicted upon The Middle-Class and The Poor:
WHEN: the government promotes unnecessary, obscene tax giveaways to the rich transferring trillion in wealth from the middle-class and the poor;
WHEN: many Americans will no longer advocate allegiance to America, its ideal, and principles; instead to the precepts of materialism;
WHEN: Congress, required to constitutionally review all trade treaties; yet abdicates its responsibilities granting the President a blank check under fast-track trade legislation;
WHEN: the political system economic system governments [ even the courts] abandon the original precepts of our republican-democracy;
WHEN: Congress silently supports unfair trade practices allowing foreign importers to abuse financially our domestic markets;
WHEN: military industrial complex has virtually totally replaced America's manufacturing base;
WHEN: Elected Officials do not doubt questionable rationales for going to war;
WHEN: Unfair giveaway-trade replaces a "quid pro quo: mutual free trade between the US and other nations;
WHEN: America once perceived itself as a GIANT FAMILY dedicated to opportunity benefiting all; not merely to prosper a few who enrich themselves at the expense of others;
WHEN: both parents are required to work full-time jobs to preserve a middle-class lifestyle;
WHEN: continuing in the middle-class borders on an impossibility; even with all family members employed;
WHEN: workers are no longer assured living wage jobs to sustain their families;
WHEN: the middle-class and poor pay the vast majority of taxes; and, The Few - The Rich - evade tax liability by legal tax subterfuge;
